Water for Elephants

I went to see the New York Times Best Seller turned movie Thursday night, and sadly, I have to say that this will be no best seller when it goes to DVD (and I foresee this happening sooner than later).

I finished the book merely a month ago, so it was still fresh in my mind when I went to see the movie adaptation with Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson.  As handsome as Robert Pattinson may have looked, this was no saving grace.  The plot was rushed, and hardly true to the novel.  Marlena, Reese Witherspoon’s character, was far from likable– annoying, even.  In all honesty, the only saving grace for this movie was Rosie, the elephant, but only because I love elephants.

If you’re on the fence about going… Don’t.  Save the $13.00 and wait for it to come out on DVD.

Overall Grade in my Book:  C-

Girlfriend Has A Lot to Live Up To

… I’d just quit now if I were her.  Poor thing doesn’t stand a chance.

Princess Harry’s on-and-off again girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, may be a confident, beautiful (sometimes), young girl, but I don’t know how anybody could ever live up to Kate Middleton after that wedding– Especially somebody who once resembled an Oompa Loompa.

What a mess.

My advice?  Lose the cigs, and try getting some etiquette/fashion lessons from the new Duchess of Cambridge.

If I had billions of eyes on me, and thousands of strangers screaming and hollering my name, I would have a mental breakdown.

So you need to give these two credit for looking so poised, relaxed, and natural. And she even did her own makeup, which makes me love her even more.  Absolutely beautiful, and more importantly, normal.

Just a couple of lovebirds, flirting and giggling on their wedding day.

This was one of my favorite pictures–

It really captured both of their dresses, and the sisters look absolutely breathtaking.

And they lived happily ever after…

And I really hope they do because they’re so freaking cute, it hurts.

I’ve been a loyal Tibi aficionado for years, but I don’t know what they’re trying to prove lately with these outrageous price tags.  And their dresses right now?  Adorable… especially the above.  But some of these dresses are up to $800!!  Pass.

Looks like I won’t be buying anything Tibs until their next sample sale… whenever that may be.

Kate Middleton Look-Book

It’s hard to avoid the royal hoopla of Royal Wedding Week, but let’s be honest, I’m all over it.  I’m not even trying to avoid it.

New York Magazine is currently featuring The Kate Middleton Look Book on The Cut, and I have to say, if I could be one person… it would have to be her.  Hands down.  Have you ever seen somebody so natural, poised, and photogenic?  Uggghhh… Not. Fair.

Enough is Enough

I see lots of dogs in Manhattan, especially on the Upper East Side.  As one of my friends likes to say, “It’s puppies and babies up here, just puppies and babies.”  Well, yes, there are a lot of puppies and babies, but that doesn’t mean that they should be treated the same way!  You see some crazy things in this city; I’ve seen my fair share of weirdness when it comes to owners “walking” their dogs.  And I’ve seen it all, from a King Charles being pushed in a baby carriage, to a Terrier being pulled around in something that resembles a wheelie suitcase.  I’ve even witnessed dogs being held in backpacks and baby parachute carriers…

Dogs are meant to walk, people!

But today, I witnessed something I’ve never seen.  Something so disturbing, I literally had to stop and stare for it to sink in…  On my way to work this morning, I saw a woman carrying a duffel bag.  OK, fine.  She then sets it on the ground, unzips, and out walks a Greyhound!!!  Now keep in mind, it was not one of those Vuitton duffels that have holes in them for the poor animal to breathe, but a legit, probably smelly, gym bag.  Some people…

If it were a Golden Retriever puppy I’d have reported this woman for animal cruelty (and offered to take the dog myself).

It’s Almost Here…

And by “it“, I mean the Royal Wedding, of course!

I think I’ll have this for dinner tonight, in honor of the big day.  My favorite couple on my favorite food?  Can’t go wrong there…  Too  bad this doesn’t look appetizing in the least.

12. Baseball Season

America’s favorite pastime may put some to sleep (ie, my sister), but to me, nothing’s sweeter than a dog (or two), a Bud Light, and some beautiful spring weather at Yankee Stadium.  Baseball season is one of the first true signs that Spring is near and I can’t wait to get my first official taste of spring in a few weeks at the Yankees/Red Sox game!

Pretty sure our view will be similar to this at the upcoming game… As high as it gets, but I cannot wait

Cilantro on 71st Street

It was 80 degrees and sunny in New York yesterday (hallelujah!), so after taking a stroll down the beautiful and blooming Park Avenue, I met my friend for a margarita (or two, or three) at a modest Mexican restaurant on 1st Ave.  Since it was the perfect evening for outdoor dining, we had to wait a half an hour to be seated outside, but it was well worth it.  We decided to split a pitcher of frozen strawberry margaritas (my favorite), and we each got quesadillas, which were surprisingly yummy.  Our new objective?  Become regulars.

Through the Looking Glass

Moschino always has some of the most creative window displays in The Meatpacking District, but their latest (below) has to be one of my favorites to date.  This is the first display I’ve seen without an actual (not to mention, creepy) mannequin bearing their signature threads, but the eye-catching stripes and polka dots are a surefire giveaway.

You’ve got to give some of the past greats credit, though, too.
