Anthropologie does Spring

A new Anthropologie recently opened up a few blocks away from my apartment, so it’s no surprise that I felt the need to walk over and check out their latest spring arrivals.

I have to be honest and tell you that I’m usually not the biggest Anthropologie fan (I’m really more of a J. Crew/Zara girl when it comes to chain shopping)… but I must say that I was quite impressed, and I’d like to add some – if not all – of the below to my Spring/Summer wardrobe.

giving thanks…

to the most caring woman I know.

Thank you for always being a shoulder to cry on…  Thank you for teaching me to dance and sing whenever there’s music…  Thank you for teaching me to lead by example… Thank you for always putting me in my place whenever I need it…  Thank you for not putting me in my place whenever I don’t need it… Thank you for staying up all night through the leg cramps, the stomach aches, the heartbreaks and the migraines…  Thank you for not saying a word when I need to vent and complain… Thank you for knowing exactly what to say when I’m ready to break – for helping me realize that it could always be worse… Thank you for telling me to laugh it off… Thank you for always encouraging me, trusting me, and understanding me when I feel like nobody else does.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the other wonderful mommies out there!

“Remember this place?”

I’ll never forget it…  Although I never remembered it looking that dark and eerie.

My brother-in-law sent this picture to me last weekend when he was in Oxford for he and my sister’s 10 year reunion… And I think I’m getting old!!

He texted me at 12:43 am.  I was sound asleep and didn’t receive it until 8:30 the next morning.

Four years ago I would have been sitting on that very front porch.  Swinging on that very porch swing.  That, or playing drunk ball with my best friends in that very front yard.  All of the lights would have been on, and there would have been chanting and giggling streaming down East Walnut Street.

Fast forward 4 years and I was 100% sober and fast asleep in my grown up apartment.  My how things change…

a very special birthday shout out

…to my Spanish (and dance) partner!

Very much looking forward to stuffing my face at our much-anticipated Birthday dinner celebration.  I can only hope that it’s half as special and exciting as last year’s (see here & here).

Like me, Mike hates his own Birthday, so I know he’s most likely turning red in the face as he reads this.  Sorry!

Best of the Met, 2012

VOLUSPA, Pink Citron

Spring is officially here, and after I “spring cleaned” my bedroom on Saturday, I decided to whip out my new favorite spring candle.

I actually bought this for my roommate as a Birthday gift, but as soon as she lit it and the scent saturated the apartment, I knew I had to have my own… it’s light, and fresh, and feminine without being too girly, and the perfect Spring/Summer scent.

Keith Haring Exhibit

Last Friday, we took a little staff field trip over the East River (or I guess I should say ‘under’, since we went via subway) to Brooklyn.  I’m not a usual over there, so it was actually quite the treat.  I’ve always been pretty closed off to Brooklyn, as most NYC dwellers are, but it’s amazing how much there is to offer.

The subway ride seemed to take forever, but in reality it only took about 30 minutes on the 2/3 to arrive at our destination, the Brooklyn Museum – which I have to say, was absolutely breathtaking.  The building itself was completely restored and updated, and it was beautiful and clean.

Once we made our way inside, I was just as impressed with the interior as I was with the exterior.

Sadly, we didn’t experience all of the exhibits while we were there, but we were given a private tour through the highly anticipated Keith Haring Exhibit, which showcased the controversial artist’s early career.  One of my favorite aspects of the exhibit was that you could actually take pictures!  There are so many times that I am tempted to snap a photo, and I’m abruptly stopped by security.  And here, I didn’t have to worry about that.

Once we left the museum, I was completely surprised to find The Brooklyn Botanic Garden blooming right next door.  This is definitely a great day trip I plan to take in the near future… two birds, one stone.

true love shrunken oxford

I’ll take one in every color, please.

To me, there’s nothing like throwing on a bright colored oxford shirt with a pair of shorts or white pants in the summertime.  Don’t ask me why, but it just makes me happy.

Maybe that’s why Madewell has called it the “True Love” oxford.

The past few weeks have been a bit crazy around here… The negative phrase “I have no time!” has frequently escaped my mouth… but I suppose it’s better to be busy than bored?

OK, that was me just trying to be more positive, but ideally, I think that I’d much rather be bored.  Preferably on a beach…

You win some, you lose some.

Looking forward to a night with nothing to do but relax and unwind.  Finally.
