NYFW one week later

I’ve only been to a handful of shows, but there’s something about being in the city and experiencing the buzz of New York Fashion Week firsthand.

First and foremost, the people watching is like none other… Some look so chic and pulled together, and others look like complete train wrecks. There’s the usual chatter about which shows were exceptional and which were just so-so. Hearing about the trends for the next season, the hot new restaurants and the after parties, and last, but certainly not least, having access to the Daily Front Row every single morning, a.k.a. my favorite magazine (aside from the one I work for, of course!). There’s a certain excitement you feel when you see familiar faces splashed on the pages and their words in print. It sounds silly, but The Daily is probably what I miss most about New York Fashion Week.

I’m a bit far behind, but for the next week, I’ll be posting my favorite looks from NYFW.

The overall winner, though, had to be Michael Kors. He pulled out all the stops and was spot-on with wearable neutrals. Each look was more beautiful and classic than the next.

On a lower note, the biggest letdowns for me were as follows: Tibi (culottes and flatform overload), Rag & Bone (more flatforms… plus the models were frightening), 3.1 Phillip Lim (greasy hair and one too many boxy pieces), Calvin Klein (too many unfinished looks).
