Furbish Pop-Up

I’ve been ordering eccentric and whimsical items from Furbish Studio in Raleigh, North Carolina for over two years now (see here). I even looked into applying for a job there when I had originally decided that I’d like to move down South.

All of this being said, receiving an invitation to the Furbish pop-up shop right here in Charleston immediately perked my interest. I picked up a few fabulous finds, but could have done a heck of a lot more damage should my bank account have permitted me to do so, and I think Charleston would be the perfect location for Furbish’s next permanent shop.

Some of my favorite pieces currently in the online shop–some of which I may or may not have purchased at the pop-up:

1. chair  |  2. napkins  |  3. print  |  4. vase  |  5. necklace

6. towel  |  7. recipe box  |  8. desk lamp  |  9. candlesticks

Furbish Studio

I recently saw a write-up on Furbish Studio on one of my favorite home decorating inspiration websites,, and I am now obsessed.

I love the idea of a small town shop making it big, and that is exactly what Jamie Maeres has done with her blog and shop, located in Raleigh, N.C.

It makes me feel like I should seriously go back to thinking about moving down to Charleston and living out my dream of opening up my very own boutique.

Until then… I guess I can dream!

a rug for every room

My sisal rug has seen better days so I constantly find myself perusing replacements online. I’m drawn to lighter hues–grays, tans, and blues–but I always find myself going back to this Dash & Albert rug. I want something low maintenance and easy to clean, but I want it to be easier on my feet (and Riley’s) than my sisal.

Ah, decisions, decisions!

Birds of a Feather

Our feathered friends will begin to fly North for the warmer months before we know it (I hope), so it’s just about that time to put the furs away–into hibernation–and bring out the feathers.

…on an open fire

Since I don’t have a fireplace, I rely on candles to warm up my apartment–mainly my Thymes Frasier Fir candle–around the holidays.

When in doubt, a cozy candle and matchbox duo never fails. Some of my favorites, below.

1. Nest “Holiday”, $34  |  2. Henri Bendel “Silver Birch”, $30  |  3. Diptyque assortment, $84

4. Thymes “Frasier Fir”, $40  |  5. Nest “Apres Ski”, $32 (another favorite)

Christmas in the South

As the holiday season approaches, I must admit that it’s a bit strange being in a warmer climate. Don’t get me wrong, I love being able to walk outside in a long sleeved shirt or sweater when my loved ones up North are scraping ice from their cars and bundling up in their ankle-length down jackets and scarves.

That being said, you need to try extra hard to get into the Christmas spirit down here, whether it’s listening to Christmas music, lighting a Thymes Frasier Fir candle, putting up the lights or the tree a bit early, or even stirring up some eggnog or eating a few candy canes in the beginning of December.

curl up with one

C.Wonder ikat mug

Confession: I’ve never had a cup of coffee. Ever. Not once. And I don’t plan to anytime in the near future, but I love sipping on hot chocolate as soon as the temperatures hit below 50 degrees.

The temperatures have been up and down in Charleston (one day it’s 75, the next it’s 45), but the coldest day of the year was on Sunday and you better believe that I whipped the Swiss Miss and my favorite mug out.

Below are some of my favorite curl up on the couch with some hot cocoa mugs for the chilly season.

1. Laura Zindel  |  2. Furbish  |  3. Reiko Kaneko  |  4. Anthropologie

5. L’Objet  |  6. C.Wonder

1. C.Wonder glasses  |  Fun glasses that will work year-round.

2. Club Monaco dress  |  I love the color, the neckline and the detailing on this dress. So pretty.

3. Jonathan Adler vase  |  I’m always in the market for a white vase and this one is modern and playful, yet classic.

4. Lavett&Chin hair mist  |  I rarely dy my hair in the summer, so this sea salt spray would be perfect for my wash and air dry routine.
