Update: Ray-Ban Mirrored Aviators

I recently read somewhere that green lenses block out the sun’s rays better than any other color lens. Well, thank God Mike gave these to me as a “moving away” present, then! I have extremely sensitive eyes, so I will surely be needing the strongest possible protection down here… of course, I’ll need a tan, first.

I posted about the Ray-Ban mirrored aviators back in February and knew they’d be the perfect addition to my laid back southern lifestyle.

Pros: Supposedly great protection and the perfect color lens in my favorite shape and style.

Cons: They look a little silly in pictures—makes me wonder if they look that silly in real-life? Yikes, I hope not… Also, you definitely need a bit of a tan and/or the right attire to pull these off.

These are also the perfect shades for St. Patrick’s Day + NASCAR.

Update: Estée Lauder Daywear BB Creme

According to Wikipedia, “BB cream is promoted as an all-in-one facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation, and sunblock. It can be worn alone as a tinted moisturizer, over serum and moisturizer as a regular foundation, and under powder, depending on the desired amount of coverage.

I don’t know a single thing about makeup, but I do know that when looking for makeup, I need to be sure it’s something that won’t cause  me to break out.  Keywords are always “oil-free” or “non-comedogenic”.  Beauty experts have been talking about BB creams for the past several months so I decided it was time that I put Estée Lauder’s to the test.

Pros: Good coverage  |  SPF 35  |  No moisturizer necessary  |  Doesn’t cause breakouts

Cons:  A little too thick and creamy for my liking (I’m now thinking that I may need to mix in moisturizer in order to combat this problem…?)  |  Makes me look paler than I already am (definitely need to try a different shade for the warmer months)

Update: Sergio Rossi Suede Pumps

Sergio Rossi pumps

I’ve never purchased a pair of  Sergio Rossi shoes before, but I loved these from the get-go and have been searching high and low for a pair of forest green suede pumps for two years.  So when I discovered these on THE OUTNET on-sale and in my size, I had to take the risk and add them to my virtual shopping bag.

Verdict:  Just as beautiful as I had hoped.  The heel is super thin but the bottom is a tad bit wider which makes me think they won’t be too difficult to walk in.  Since they’re suede, I’ll have to scotch guard before wearing, but so far so good.  Regardless, you can’t really complain all that much when you get such an amazing deal.

Update: Tommy Hilfiger Wedges

I first stumbled upon these Tommy Hilfiger wedges on Piperlime and they appeared to be a steal.

Seventy-nine dollars.  Under $100.  A.K.A. no sales tax when shipping to N.Y.C.

When was the last time you could ever find a pair of shoes like this for under $100?

Well, Tommy Hilfiger must have seriously changed the way he makes his shoes because I purchased a pair about 10 years ago that are still in one piece and I am fairly certain that these wouldn’t last 10 years days.

Verdict:  These are going right back… Parts of the shoe were already coming un-glued and the straps are definitely not leather.  You certainly pay for what you get in this case.

Update: J.Crew Neon Crystal Necklace

I was obsessed with this necklace from the moment I laid eyes on it.  I raced over to J.Crew after work the day I spotted it online and made a beeline towards the jewelry counter.  One left.  Amazing.

I go to try it on and can’t even clasp it shut.  The clasp was so cheap, so flimsy, it felt like it could break right there in my fingertips.  It was a sad day, but I just couldn’t bring myself to spend $128 on something that could very well break after 2-3 wears.

I am sure that I will be able to find something similar for a quarter of the price come spring…

Verdict:  Cheap, poorly made & certainly not worth the money.
